Patchman — What It Is And Why We Include It

If you have a WordPress website, it needs to be updated. If it’s not updated regularly, it’s at risk for malware and other malicious content. I learned this lesson the hard way. A few years ago, I built a website, let it sit, and then one day I went to the website only to find it hacked beyond repair. There was no option for recovery; I had to completely rebuild the website.

So whenever I can, I tell my customers to make sure they’re keeping their websites, themes, and plugins updated so they can avoid the nightmare I went through. If you have a WordPress website, plugin, or theme that is outdated, you’re at risk of an attack.

This is where Patchman comes in. “Patchman detects uploaded malware and automatically quarantines it for you.”

Patchman scans your website every night, and if it finds a potentially vulnerable area, it automatically patches it (it doesn’t update; it only patches).

It’s important to note this — Patchman is not a substitute for updating your website, plugins, and themes. Patchman is simply a great, easy-to-use tool we purchased for you that will help you buy some time in case you need to verify the WordPress, plugin, or theme update for your website.

Malware Scanning

Patchman also detects uploaded malware and automatically quarantines it for you (we already include real-time malware scanning for free from Imunify360, but you can never protect too much against threats, right?). If Patchman scans your website and detects a corrupted file, it will automatically quarantine the file.

If a vulnerability is found, Patchman will send you an email alert. After receiving an email alert, we highly recommend logging into your account and updating the necessary files.
